A Dark Confession

nutmeg, originally uploaded by Marysusan.

I have a confession to make.

My husband hates nutmeg. Or at least he thinks that he hates nutmeg. Every time that I make a quiche or an egg dish he complains that I put nutmeg in it. Now I know that I do NOT over season my food, be it with nutmeg, or salt, or anything else. I also know that if you DO NOT put nutmeg in a baked egg dish the flavour falls flat.

So I have started putting nutmeg in everything I cook.

EVERYTHING.

It is only a little bit. But it is going everywhere....all the time.

He has been complimenting me on my cooking more than ever.

What does this say about his sense of taste? What does this say about our relationship? What does this say about his fear of nutmeg?

More importantly, I wonder if he actually reads my blog?

What do you have to confess? Feel free to do it here. I am pretty confident that YOUR significant other doesn't read this blog.

Sometimes I pretend that vegetables are the "only" thing I "can" make for dinner. Ha.

I'm tagging you as a "You make my day" blog! You can check back at my blog for details :)

My hubby HATES venison. With a passion. I had never tried it. A coworker offered me some mixed with ground beef. I made meatloaf with it. Hubby all but licked the dish I made the loaf in. Waited a year before I told him what I made it with. I felt it was the darkest secret ever. :)

Um...I'd like to put a little more than just nutmeg in my husband's food.

What's that say about *our* relationship?

Maybe I'll just serve him up his favorite dish on divorce papers.

lol at your poor nutmeg abused husband.
my darkest secret is that I started taking off one day in the tokyo subway while my husband was buying tickets but I remembered not having my wallet and I turned my escape into fake interest for some japanese bookstore.

I have no confession, I'm too nice for the boy!

my darkest secret is I'm not in love with my husband anymore. After 19 years and three kids, though, what do you do?

hey, you asked.

I have no confessions at all to make. I adore my husband and he me. My life is just too great for complaints!

I love nutmeg. I don't see how people can not. Will you ever tell your husband of your sneakiness?

My husband definitely reads my blog, so I won't be doing any confessing there.

I'm not too bad, I don't think. Sometimes the dogs wake me up in the morning but I pretend to still be asleep so he has to take them out. It's worse in the wintertime.

I put cilantro in things even though the hubby says he hates it. He has yet to notice. You know if you suatee fresh spinach in olive oil with a bit of nutmeg its so yummy. Great Grandma use to do that.

cut it OUT--you are a devious one, you are! It reminds me of my friend whose husband was sooo picky he insisted only on Lender's frozen bagels and NOTHING else. And she hated them. So she would buy bagels from her favorite shop and stash them in an empty Lender's bag in the freezer!

You do know that nutmeg is a hallucinogen, right? Maybe he's only imagining he likes your food more lately, heh.

No real juicy confessions here, we're pretty content. I do have secret stashes of chocolate, and I have a little "wool problem" that causes me to run upstairs and stash packages from the mail before he realizes I bought more fiber, heh. I don't think either of these is really a secret though. :)

I have nothing to confess but I'm totally laughing over here about the nutmeg! I hope he doesn't check in. It's like my friend who is blissfully unaware that her most-hated veggie is in her most-loved casserole. If anyone told her, it would be the end of her casserole-y love affair. LOL

MS you never cease to amuse me. I have no hubby, just a beau of 9 months or so that eats pretty much anything. Only he doesn't care for tomato sauce and I've got no ideas as to how I could disguise such.
I am optimistic that I will find out more about him and subsequently ways to torture him as the relationship progresses...
